The National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) is a statutory corporation established on 13 March 1963 under the National Cooperative Development Corporation Act, 1962. It functions under the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India. Its broad mandate is to promote and finance programmes for the development of cooperatives across various sectors of the economy.

Objectives

• Promote cooperative-based production, processing, marketing and storage.
• Facilitate agricultural and rural infrastructure development through cooperatives.
• Support cooperatives involved in dairy, fisheries, poultry, handloom, sericulture and consumer activities.
• Promote collection, processing and marketing of minor forest produce.
• Strengthen the income and livelihoods of farmers, particularly small and marginal farmers, through cooperative institutions.

Financial Assistance

NCDC provides financial assistance through:

• Term loans and investment loans
• Working-capital assistance
• Margin-money assistance
• Loans and grants to eligible cooperative societies
• Financial support for infrastructure such as godowns, agricultural marketing facilities and processing units.

It can provide direct financial assistance to national-level cooperatives and cooperatives whose objectives extend beyond a single State, subject to prescribed conditions
