This stage of the exam consists of two papers. The first is called Paper I and deals with General Studies. It has a maximum mark of 200 and is held for two hours.
The other exam is called Paper II and tests for the quantitative aptitude and reading comprehension along with logical reasoning puzzles. The exam is for 200 marks and is held in the afternoon for over two hours.
Both papers are held on the same day and a candidate must qualify both papers to succeed.
