7 Ways to Minimize Distractions
Distractions are very common in our daily life. They come from different sources like digital gadgets, notifications, social media or even from other people. Smart phones have become the biggest cause for distractions these days. When we are distracted, there is a high possibility that we are less focused on the things we do. Here are some practical tips to minimize distractions.
- Limit the use of technology
We are living in a world rife with technology. Therefore, there is a high chance that we may become addicted to it. It can cause you to waste precious time which could have been fruitfully used. So limit the time spent using your digital gadgets. It is always recommended to use social media like Whatsapp, Facebook, and Instagram during your leisure time. Controlling the use of technology is also important to keep up your physical and mental health.
2. Manage your mails and other notifications
Features of digital gadgets offer us the facility of emails and other types of communication. Therefore, there is a large possibility that our inboxes are filled with messages. Checking your emails and notifications very often can distract you from the work you do. Therefore it is recommended to read the important messages and leave the unimportant ones for your free time. Also, try to delete the notifications once they are read or completed.
3. Keep distance from your phone
Smart phones have become so important to us that we cannot imagine ourselves without it. It is true that there is so much use of our phones. But most of the time, we are addicted to its wide variety of features such that we use them without a limit. Therefore it is better to keep the phones away from your line of sight so as to concentrate more intensely on your work.
4. Create a good working atmosphere
Minimizing distractions are essential for completing your work at the right time. Long working hours can be tiring, so there is a possibility for us to easily get distracted with the things around us. Using noise cancelling headphones and turning on “Do Not Disturb” on your phone and other such features or apps that can block/restrict your phone usage during study time can be helpful.
5. Organize your tasks
Organizing in simple terms means to put things in the right place. It is important to divide your tasks into various sub tasks so as to easily manage them. Give an order of priorities for each task and start to work on the most important tasks first. If you feel overloaded, don’t hesitate to seek help from others.
6. Stay single on your work time
There are some distractions which cannot be controlled by ourselves, like distractions from other people. This can take away your concentration and focus required for the work. So the better idea is to remain single during your work time by doing the work in a separate room or at home.
7. Give importance for yourself
There is a chance that we get distracted by ourselves without any external influence.However, it is also important to be physically and emotionally healthy to yield better results. Therefore, doing meditation, yoga, drinking plenty of water, good sleep, good food, fresh air will provide you with energy and strength.
Distractions cannot be avoided but it can be minimized.
Keeping a distance with technology, a good working place, caring for yourself and managing notifications can reduce distractions and will help you to stay focused on your tasks.
