Digital India
About
- In 2015, the Indian government launched the ‘Digital India’ initiative with an aim to transform India into a knowledge-based economy and a digitally empowered society.
- It aims at ensuring digital services, digital access, digital inclusion, digital empowerment and bridging the digital divide.
- The initiative encompasses the following three key objectives:
- Establish a secure and stable digital infrastructure
- Deliver digital services
- Ensure that every citizen has access to the Internet.
- The programme is coordinated by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) with the Ministries and Departments in the Central and State Governments partnering it in their respective domain areas.
Implementation:
Digital India Corporation, a not for profit Company set up by MeitY, leads and guides in realizing the vision, objectives and goals of the Digital India program.
