Training under PM-DAKSH Yojana
About the Yojana
- The Pradhan Mantri Dakshta Aur Kushalta Sampann Hitgrahi, PM-DAKSH Yojana is being implemented by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment from 2020-21.
- The scheme aims to cover marginalized persons of Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, Economically Backward Classes, De-notified Tribes and Safai karamcharis including waste pickers.
- Under this Yojana, eligible target groups are being provided skill development training programmes on (i) Up-skilling/Re-skilling (ii) Short Term Training Programme (iii) Long Term Training Programme and (iv) Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP).
- It is a multi-pronged strategy to enhance the competency level of the target groups and make them employable both in wage and Self-employment for their socio-economic development.
- The scheme is implemented by the three Corporations
- National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation (NSFDC),
- National Backward Classes Finance & Development Corporation (NBCFDC) &
- National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC).
Why in News?
- From the FY 2020-21 to 2022-23, training was imparted to 1,07,120 trainees under the scheme out of whom 77,237 trainees were placed in gainful employment. The total amount spent on these training is Rs. 127.95 crore.
- Similarly, from the year 2023-24 to 2025-26, it is projected to train 1,69,300 trainees (including 53,900, 56,450 and 58,950 trainees in the year 2023, 2024 and 2025 respectively). A total amount of Rs. 286.42 crore is likely to be spent on these trainings.
