Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan
What’s in the news?
- The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister has approved Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN) with total outlay of Rs.24,104 crore (Central Share:Rs.15,336 crore and State Share: Rs.8,768 crore).
- The scheme is meant to ensure last-mile welfare scheme delivery and protection for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
- The scheme will work towards protection and nurturing of tribes – some of them living in remote jungles – which are on the verge of extinction.
- It will benefit and saturate the families and habitations with basic facilities such as safe housing, clean drinking water and sanitation, improved access to education, health and nutrition, road and telecom connectivity, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
