Instrument landing system

Scientific and Production Corporation “Radio technical Systems” (RTS) of Russia has signed a large-scale contract with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for the supply of radio equipment.
The Russian company will manufacture 34 sets of instrument landing system (ILS)-734 for the modernisation of 24 airports in India

The Instrument Landing System (ILS) is a standard precision landing assist developed by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). It is used to deliver precise and descent guidance signals to aircraft for landing on the runway in normal or unfavourable weather circumstances.
In Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) conditions, the instrument landing system facility provides a very accurate and trustworthy means of getting to the runway.
The ILS provides the required lateral and vertical guidance for a precision approach to be flown.
The pilot may conduct a precision approach once all components of the ILS system, including the authorised approach method, are accessible.

India has become the third largest domestic aviation market in the world
During the previous three years, India’s civil aviation industry has become one of the country’s fastest expanding industries.
In FY22, India’s passenger traffic was 131.62 million (from April to December 2021).
The Indian government has been attempting to increase the number of airports to accommodate the growing aviation traffic.
India had 153 operating airports as of 2020. By FY40, India plans to increase the number of operational airports to 190-200.
By 2027, the number of planes is predicted to reach 1,100.
