What’s in the news?

• India recently participated in the sixth edition of a multinational military exercise organised by the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Russia’s Orenburg Region.
• Known as Exercise Peaceful Mission, the military exercise is conducted biennially as part of military diplomacy between SCO member states.
• The aim of the exercise is to foster close relations between SCO Member States and to enhance abilities of the military leaders to command multinational military contingents. 
• Troops from all Armies and Air Forces will jointly undertake operations in a controlled and simulated environment.
