Organize Tomorrow Today

Successful people are not always extremely talented or advantaged; they can come from different backgrounds. What makes them successful is their commitment to certain habits. Below are eight ways to enhance your performance in work and life.
- Our brain can process only five to nine concepts at a time known as channel capacity as first identified by the psychologist George A. Miller. If you overload your brain with work, important data can sometimes get improperly processed or the mind can even switch off. It is better to break down a long list of tasks into smaller, achievable ones which will allow you to dedicate time for each task. To get positive results, focusing on completing fewer things at a time is the remedy.
- Prioritizing and organizing the tasks will make you productive. Making a list of the Three Most Important things you want to accomplish along with the time needed for it is an effective technique. Choosing the most important from these three and working on it first will help you stay focused and productive. The three important things to remember while making this list are
- Avoiding the mistake of assigning yourself big and complex tasks
- Prioritizing and organizing your work wisely
- Writing down your plan to keep it active in your mind
3. To utilize the time at hand to the maximum, you can follow these four simple tips
- Avoid wasting time by completing unfinished tasks
- To avoid procrastination of a tough assignment, use the ask and chop technique of asking yourself what should be the first step taken, chopping it off once completed and repeating the cycle to finish it quicker
- Stay efficient by challenging yourself to finish tasks within shorter deadlines.
- Keep your meetings focused by pre-structuring it and ending with an interactive session for queries and proposals.
4. We often find it hard to follow a plan or a resolution we make and the solution to this is ritualizing your new habits by repeating it every day at the same time and committing to it. There will be phases where you will feel like lazing or giving up and it’s essential to fight through these initial periods to turn your resolutions into habits. Asking yourself the questions of how you would feel when you stay dedicated to your new decisions and how you would feel if you gave up will help you keep motivated. Moreover, visualizing your new, confident and productive self is helpful.
5. Self- evaluation is essential to keep track of your progress. Remember not to evaluate yourself against the highest of standards but give yourself the due appreciation when necessary. It is also important to concentrate on the process that will reveal what can be improved for better performance, than focusing on the results. You can keep track of your progress using a success log or daily journal. Also, constantly ask questions like what you have done well today, what you could have improved and what you could have done differently, to stay focused on your goals.
6. You are powerful enough to convince yourself to do things and also fail at things by thinking negatively because over time we tend to believe whatever we tell ourselves we are capable of. Hence it is very important to have positive and encouraging thoughts to build the necessary confidence to tackle any situation. It is also essential to avoid overthinking problems that can lead to tension and loss of creative intelligence. It is always better to focus on finding the solution than stressing over the problem.
7. Some of us are shy and scared when it comes to addressing people. To tackle this problem you need preparation and practise. While preparing a speech, make sure to keep it crisp, concise and engaging to hold the attention of the audience and convey the message effectively. Writing down your speech and rehearsing it thoroughly before delivering it is helpful. Ensure that you speak calmly with ample pauses to sound confident and give the audience enough processing time. If it’s a one-on-one talk, keep your tone calm and friendly to make the other person feel at ease and give them chances to express their thoughts.
8. When it comes to achieving your goal, you have to sometimes break free from being normal. Normal people are often overpowered by procrastination and find excuses to postpone the pursuit of their goals as they are afraid of failures. They also obsess over things beyond their control, which prevents them from focusing on things that can be achieved. Abnormal people, however, try to take matters into their own hands and are confident about themselves and strive to find ways around any obstacles.
So if you want to reach great heights, create a solid plan, take control of your thoughts and actions and always focus on the process and finding solutions.
