The Motivation Manifesto
The Motivation Manifesto
Brendon Burchard
Ever wondered what drives you to do the things you do every day? Motivation is what inspires you to work and to accomplish the things you want in life. Be it easy daily goals or lifelong dreams, you need to feel motivated to practise it. Deeply motivated people not only achieve their dreams but are also influential in motivating others.
Freedom as a driving force
The feeling of frustration felt when our freedom is curbed is as natural as the freedom which is essential to understanding our potential, be it as an individual or society. The lack of freedom drains the vitality and drive in our lives, making us behave like slaves who are subject to others’ expectations. The fears of judgement often worries us and acts as an obstacle, keeping us from striving for our goals. You can only attain happiness and fulfilment by overcoming and conquering such fears. Fear is powerful and in the evolutionary past, it kept us away from danger. In the modern world, fear is more of an enemy that will hold you back and destroy your true potential.
Fuel your motivation frequently
Thinking and realising your true ambitions can help you feel really motivated to conquer your dreams. Ambition is the choice to search for something better in life either through more understanding or greater achievements. However, a life without ambitions is like a ship without radar. You must constantly awaken ambitions that lie in you by always asking yourself questions and analysing the answers. Ambition is not the same as hope, the difference being expectation. Hope alone doesn’t help; you have to expect that you will succeed to be truly motivated. Once you kindle your ambitions, it’s necessary to keep it burning by frequently fuelling it with conscious efforts. For this, you need to find yourself a strong support system and create solid routines that will keep you on your feet always.
Cherish and utilize the present
Living in the moment and making use of the present is a very freeing experience that adults often overlook. A lot of people are hung up on their past, believing it to be a better time than the present. They may also see the effects of the past as the cause for their problems today. Being preoccupied with our past keeps us from enjoying the present and benefiting by draining our motivation. To shatter this vicious cycle of regret and sadness, you have to ask yourself what will help you feel energetic and appreciative. This habit must be incorporated for the rest of your life to calibrate your happiness and enjoy the present. Happiness is not something beyond your control and you can create your state of joy.
Have faith in yourself
We all have to deal with our inner demons and doubts that hold us back from pursuing our goals and they can be controlled with the right weapons. Faith that resides in you and empowers you when you feel low is the remedy to this situation. Having faith in yourself is essential to overcome the shadows of doubts within and work towards your goal. Sometimes you might find your goals to be unachievable and difficult, but remember that nothing great has been achieved by taking the safer road. To fulfil your dreams and serve the world, sometimes you have to be reckless, take up challenges and seek new opportunities. To achieve this you need to understand that you can create your reality and that if you put your mind to something, you can do it.
Aim for the best
When you do something out of passion, your happiness radiates positive energy that motivates others as well. By doing what you love, you do not limit yourself to feeling just fine. When you lead a life of striving for what you are passionate about and realising who you are, you will start to feel fantastic and proud of yourself. Never let others dictate what you have to do with your life and keep you from following your dreams. In a world where we are in need of motivators and role models, we can be the ones playing these roles and inspiring others.
Always keep in mind that freedom is your original motivator and that you need to forget the past, have faith yourself, fuel your motivation and aim for fantastic things to be a successful human being and an inspiration.
