Extreme Productivity discusses ways to improve workplace productivity, time management, and performance. More productivity does not lead to exhaustion. It helps complete work faster.
Prioritize the tasks
Plan for the long term and organize your work. Break down tasks into aims, objectives, and targets to prioritize. Divide the tasks according to the time it is projected to take for completion. Aims take years to complete while objectives take around 3 months and targets take less than 3 months. Targets and objectives are the base that leads to your aims. Focus on the aims and targets that both you and your employer strive to achieve, and then focus on the tasks that concern you particularly. Set the top priorities once you have analyzed your tasks based on the time it will take to complete. Track your workdays and monitor your time allocation.
Fight Procrastination
A large number of work can be overwhelming and stressful when you don’t know where to start. So break the work into smaller targets with mini-deadlines instead of waiting until the real deadline. This enables you to finish work in a step by step manner ahead of the due date. Set the deadline at similar intervals and avoid piling them up towards the end. Share the deadlines with your boss. It adds some external pressure and makes you accountable. Reward yourself after the successful completion of the deadline.
Handle Low Priority Tasks
Spending too much time on low priority work is a waste of your time and patience. Do these tasks quickly so that you have enough time for the important tasks. You might be approached with various requests from your family or colleagues. Try to make faster decisions whether you can handle it or not. Applying OHIO or Only Handle It Once principle is a good way to manage time. It helps to make a decision immediately. Fight the temptation for perfection in low priority works. Not everything has to be done flawlessly. Reserve this for top priority work only.
Efficient Writing through Structure and Quiet
Efficiency and quality of writing can be improving by adding a structure to the process. This can be done using brainstorming, categorizing, and outlining. While brainstorming, write whatever that comes to your mind without worrying about order or structure. Add some order to the work while categorizing. Assemble the ideas into categories and sub-categories. Then outline the work by arranging the categories in a logical sequence. Efficient writing also requires time and quiet. Mute your phones. Try to reach the office earlier so that there will be no distractions.
Result Is More Important Than the Time Spent
The number of hours worked is irrelevant. What matters is the result. It is irrational to compare the number of hours to the quality of the work. You might produce better work in less time if you plan ahead. One must not favor longer working hours than productivity. Employers, however, tend to favor those who work overtime even though they claim they prefer productivity. Such a culture must not be encouraged. Avoid making snide remarks when your coworker leaves early or arrives late. Cutting back on longer hours gives more private time to be spent with family and friends.
Prioritize Your Private Life
Most people ignore their private life by focusing only on work. Productivity is connected to your personal life and lifestyle. Prioritize your personal life for protecting personal and family time. Make sure you reach home at a certain time to spend time with your family. Say no to late meetings or postpone them. Have dinner with your family. A work-life balance is essential for success
